JUNIORS ROUND 8 REVIEWS

Taperoo Reserve was bursting at the seams with 5 of our 6 Junior teams participating in some cracking contests, while a special mention goes to our U13’s who showed their resilience playing two games in as many days. Click here to read all about it!

SUNDAY CANTEEN

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered in the canteen on Sunday, 9^th August. It was an extremely busy day with the canteen staying open all the way to 3pm. There were a couple of volunteers who spent 4-5 hours of their Sunday working for our club, an extra special thanks to you!

In an attempt to make training and shift transition flow more efficiently in future, starting this Sunday, Fran will be allocating each volunteer a specific task (i.e. ‘kitchen’, ‘till’ or ‘kitchen and till’) ahead of their Sunday shift. This coming weekend (Sunday, 16^th August), the teams rostered on are U8 Gold (8-10am) and U7 Gold (10am to close). Fran has already informed each volunteer of their assign roles via email.

There are just 7 more Sunday’s ‘til the end of the season so please contact your coach to find out when your team is next rostered on or email Fran to enquire and/or confirm your availability. volunteers@portpirates.com.au

OUTSTANDING FEES

A reminder that any outstanding fees for the 2020 season are almost due. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we extended the due date for fees until September 2020. If you are unsure of your payment status, please contact Lisa Unglaube, Junior Treasurer via email jnrtreasurer@portpirates.com.au

GROUND STEWARDS

This week, we have supplied all of our MiniRoos and Juniors coaches with a replacement first aid kit and a Ground Steward vest. For the remaining games of the season, coaches/team managers will be asking parents and guardians to be a Ground Steward for the game. Information on the role of a Ground Steward can be found here. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

TEAM PHOTOS

A brief update on team photos. While the dates are still to be determined, at some point over the next 2-4 weeks, we will be taking team photos at Taperoo Reserve. MiniRoos photos will be taken on a MONDAY evening while Juniors photos will take place on a WEDNESDAY evening. We will advertise the dates with you all asap once our photographer has confirmed her availability.

SENIORS UPDATE

The first team secured back to back victories with a 2-0 success over Salisbury United at Richardson Reserve. The 3 points were enough to see Pirates move up into the top three. The Reserves were edged out by 2 goals to 1 while the U18s halted a mini slump with 4-2 win to sit nicely in 2^nd place.

In the Collegiate league, Pirates suffered a heavy loss to a rampant table topping Adelaide Thunder at Taperoo Reserve. They’ll be looking to bounce back this weekend against 3^rd placed St Pauls.

Next up for all three State League 2 teams is an always challenging away tie against The Cove FC at Cove Sports and Community Centre. You can find further information on our website. Hope to see you at a game soon!

UPCOMING GAMES – SUNDAY 16^th AUGUST

Here is the full list of the upcoming games. The round kicks off with another U8 derby on Friday night, while U10 White and the two U6s teams have a weekend off after their games have been rescheduled to a later date. As always, please double check the kick-off time on the Football SA website or via the Game Day app.
