As far as starts to a season go they don't come much better than last night's 6 goal shootout under lights in front of what would have to be the largest Taperoo crowd we've had for an SL2 match.

Our boys came out hard making their intentions clear from the start and it wasn't long before crowd favourite Sammy Sesay put us 1 nil up.
Skipper James Skeffington marked his return to the club in style with an absolute belter that will take some beating for Goal of the Year.
Cult hero Scotty Unglaube sent the home crowd into a frenzy and showed he hasn't lost his touch in front of goal to give us 3-0 lead at the break.

It was more of the same early in the second as Skeffy made it a brace with a calmly taken penalty to effectively seal the win.
To the visitors' credit they rallied hard to score two second-half goals that gave their loyal and vocal band of supporters plenty of hope for the season ahead.

Coach Derek Hall whilst disappointed with conceding twice in the second half was delighted with his charges first half dominance that set up the win and more importantly a very valuable 3 points.

With the impressive debuts of Luke Smith and Best on Ground Scott Parr and the imminent return of James Coley and 2019 Club Champion Mitch Anderson in the coming weeks it's an exciting time to be a Pirate!
