~ Vale - Vlodymyr (Wally) Tkachuk ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the club has lost a long time member, and founding member, of USC Lion (formerly part of the Port Lion Soccer Club prior to the Port Pirates era). Wally was president and chairman of the club for a long time, while having managed many other tasks for the club over the years. Wally was 94 years old at the time of his passing. Our condolences to his family and closest friends at this time.

What is your name?

Nikki Oppermann

What is your role on the committee?

Junior Coordinator

What inspired you to become a member of the club committee?

We get so much out of being Pirates members that I was happy to give back to the club. I also enjoy being involved in the operational aspects of organisations.

What do you hope to achieve as a member of the committee?

I hope that by working together with the other committee members I can contribute to positive improvements at the club which make being a Pirates member as positive an experience for others as it has been for us.

How long have you been involved with soccer?

7 years

What is your favourite soccer memory?

My favourite memories are from the friendships we’ve made through the club and things we’ve done together outside the club, such as camping trips and birthday parties.

Do you have a favourite soccer team or player?

I live watching Adelaide United play.

Have you ever played soccer? If so, what position did you play?

No

Have you been involved with any other sports or activities? If so, which ones?

My favorites are touch football, rock climbing, and triathlons but they are time consuming and these days I’m lucky if I fit in a run, swim and Pilates session each week!

What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of soccer?

I enjoy being active and outdoors so often drag the family along for a hike or paddle board. We love camping when we can fit it in. At home, I enjoy creating photo books so we can look back through our memories.
